New Electronic Remittance Advice (RA) Option

General Information and Commonly Asked Questions

The Missouri State Medicaid program is preparing to phase out the mailing of copies of paper Remittance Advices. Providers will no longer receive both paper and electronic Remittance Advices. If you or your billing service currently receive an electronic RA (via the eMOMED Internet website or other method), paper copies of the RA will be discontinued effective July 20, 2004. You are encouraged to move to the Internet to receive your RAs.

Receiving your Remittance Advice via the Internet will prove very beneficial to your health care operations. With the new Internet RA, you can:

• Retrieve your RA the Monday following the weekend Financial Cycle (two weeks sooner than if you receive paper);
• Have access to RAs for 62 days (the equivalent of the last four cycles);
• View and print the RA from your desktop; and
• Download the RA into your operating system.

The new Internet RA will be viewable and printable in a ready to use format. Just point and click to print your RA or save it on your PC and print it at your convenience.

If you receive a paper copy of the RA only and not an electronic copy, you are encouraged to move to the Internet to receive your RAs. Please note: Once you have signed up to receive RAs via the Internet, receipt of paper RAs by you or your billing service will be discontinued.

How can I obtain a copy of my RA?

RAs can be accessed via Missouri Medicaid's eMOMED Internet website www.emomed.com.

Where do I sign up for eMOMED access?

Go to www.dss.mo.gov/dms. At this site you apply for Internet access from either the “Apply for Internet Access” link in the Quick Links section or you can select the “internet access” link under the Provider Information section. Either link will take you to the on-line Internet Application.

What if I already have access to eMOMED, do I still need to sign up to receive my RA?

No, you do not need to sign up for access again. Your Remittance Advices will automatically be available starting June 7, 2004.

Can I print my RA from the internet?

RAs can be viewed, printed, or downloaded from your PC.

Will the new internet RA look different than the paper copy?

Internet RAs appear in a similar format as you receive today on paper.

When will my RA be available on the internet?

Internet RAs are available the Monday following a financial weekend, two weeks before your paper RA would have been mailed.

How long will my RA be available on the internet?

Internet RAs are available for 62 days, or the equivalent of four cycles. The site is designed to "roll off" the oldest RA when the newest RA is added.

Will I continue to receive a paper copy of my RA even though I have access to eMOMED?

No. Providers may choose electronic or paper, but not both. If you have selected eMOMED, you have access to an electronic RA, therefore, you will no longer receive paper RAs after July 20, 2004 and will need to view and print your RAs from the eMOMED site.

Will I continue to receive a paper copy of my RA if I currently receive an electronic RA?

No. Providers may choose electronic or paper, but not both. If you currently receive an electronic RA, you will no longer receive paper RAs after July 20, 2004 since your RAs are now available on the eMOMED website.

What if I use a billing service and they get an electronic RA, will I continue to receive paper?

No. Your billing service will continue to receive an electronic copy and your RAs will be available to you on the eMOMED website

We have a large billing office with several staff. Will all staff members need to obtain a user ID and password?

Yes. Internet access user IDs and passwords cannot be shared by co-workers within an office.

Do I need special software to view or print my remittance advice?

The only software providers will need in order to print is Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe is a freeware product and is available at the Adobe website: www.adobe.com

Can I use any ISP to access the website?

You may use any ISP to access RAs through eMOMED. If using AOL, be certain to start Internet Explorer, which will eliminate some timeout issues users may experience with using AOL.
