All DYS Youth Returned to Hogan Street Facility

St. Louis - All nine juvenile offenders that assaulted a security staff person and fled the Hogan Street Division of Youth Services (DYS) facility on October 20, 2007 have been returned to the facility as of Sunday, October 27.

“We are thankful these youth are safe and back in custody and care,” said Tim Decker, DYS Director. “We thank both the families who helped ensure their children were returned safely as well as law enforcement for their assistance.”

An extensive investigation is underway and appropriate corrective action is being taken as indicated. DYS management is also reinforcing security protocols at the facility. Staff continues with the comprehensive treatment and education program of youth at the facility.
